Kathy Harrison
Short Bio
My husband and I own a small hobby farm. We raise bees, have an orchard and grow organic vegetables. We also raise a few pigs and chickens. Most of what we do is a cooperative venture with our close neighbors. I have written two books on family preparedness for Storey Publishing, Just In Case: How To Be Self-Sufficient When the Unexpected Happens and Prepping 101: 40 Steps You Can Take To Be Prepared.
One fun fact
I conquered my fear of heights by doing a high ropes course and going zip lining when I was 66. You are never too old.
What Movie, Book or Song describes your life?
Spanish Pipedreamis my theme song. We didn't blow up our TV but we did move to the country, grew a lot of peaches, had a lot of children, and built us a home.
My Favorite Lehman's Products are
My favorite Lehman's product has to be the AA canners. I have four of them. A close second is my cider press. We have pressed thousands of gallons of cider over the last several years. It's a winner.
What is your favorite animal?
You know you're a crazy chicken lady when your coffee table book is Storey's Illustrated Guide To Poultry Breeds by Carol Ekarius. I crave a Blue Lace Wyandotte.
What is your connection to Lehmans
I began shopping at Lehman's when I first began to consider how we would manage if we lost electricity for any length of time. Soon, I was writing and blogging about their products. After a few years I sent them a sample blog piece for their Lehman's blog and the rest is history.
