Pick the Perfect Water Filter
Gravity water filters give you great-tasting drinking water with a portable design. Take them anywhere - camping, RVing, hiking, relaxing in your backyard. Or use them at home on your kitchen countertop.
No electricity is needed so you can filter water in times of emergencies and power outages. Great for everyday use, just fill the upper chamber with water. (Dispense from lower chamber.)
Step 1: Choose Your System
Factors you'll want to consider:
- Size (How many people does it serve?)
- Filter Elements (How many elements does it hold?)
- Flow Rate (How quickly does it filter water?)

Step 2: Choose Your Filter Element
The filter element (sometimes called the "candle" or "cartridge") is the component in a water filter system that reduces contaminants from your drinking water.
Decide what you want to filter out of your water first, then look at the capability of each filter element.
Factors you'll want to consider:
- Filtration Capability (What contaminants does it reduce?)
- Compatibility (Will it work in your water filter system?)
- Lifespan (How often do you need to replace it?)

Looking for Berkey replacement filter elements?
The Ultra Sterasyl Filter Elements are a great and compatible alternative to the Black Berkey Elements (which are unavailable). They are NSF certified and work in Berkey water filter systems.
Installation is similar, too. Just place these filter elements in the upper chamber of your gravity filter.
British Berkefeld also offers the Ultra Fluoride Element, just like their Ultra Sterasyl Element with the additional capability of reducing fluoride. (It goes in the upper chamber, so it does not sit in your filtered water. No additional fluoride filter is needed in the lower chamber.)
Note: Only use the Ultra Sterasyl or the Ultra Fluoride Elements. They cannot be used together.
