Reusable cotton mask for children - pleated, comfortable, breathable. Assorted colors. (By using assorted colors, it makes production easier and faster.) Made by Amish seamstresses according to the pattern designed by Deaconess Hospital of Indiana. "Prior to modern disposable masks, washable fabric masks were standard use for hospitals," said Dawn Rogers, MSN, RN, FNP-C, Patient Safety & Infection Prevention Office.

Note: As demand increases, we anticipate running short of elastic strips and other materials. We may be forced to make substitutions. For example, we've already tested a design that uses stretchy fabric ear bands instead of elastic. We also plan to test the use of a tie-on design. In all cases, however, the mask material will meet or exceed the Turban Project/Deaconess Hospital specifications.
FAQ
Q: Are these high quality masks? A: They are based on a pattern from The Turban Project, which is endorsed by Deaconess Hospital, Evansville Indiana. The Deaconess website describes these as a "mask for doctors, nurses and healthcare workers." They are made in Ohio by Amish seamstresses and backed by our satisfaction guarantee.
Q: Are they reusable? A: Yes. You can find many ways of sterilizing masks online. We tested the following successfully with no visible damage: Steaming for 10 minutes, oven backing at 150°F for 10 minutes, machine wash and dry.
Q: Are these masks effective? On March 23, 2020, the CDC website said COVID-19 is spread, "primarily via respiratory droplets produced when the infected person coughs or sneezes. Droplets can land in the mouths, noses, or eyes of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs of those within close proximity." The cotton fabric used with this mask will trap respiratory droplets. The CDC website said, "airborne transmission from person-to-person over long distances is unlikely." These masks are not certified to "N95" standards, and are not effective against airborne transmission. See the CDC website for the latest information about Personal Protective Equipment like masks, gloves, goggles and other items.
