Helpful Hints: Your first use of the Ultra Sterasyl Filter will be slow. No worries - this is normal. After a few cycles (after the internal carbon block is thoroughly flushed), the speed will improve. The pores on the ceramic filter element are smaller than other filters on the market (100 times thinner than a follicle of hair), but this not only filters the suspended solids out of your drinking water properly, it also allows extra exposure time to the carbon and media.
Water flow is affected by the quality of water supply, so flow rate will vary. The more filter elements you use, the quicker the flow rate. This unit holds up to 4 filter elements.
For best results, replace the Ultra Sterasyl filter every 6 months (or every 400 gallons). Keep extra filter elements on hand, so you'll have everything you need. (We sell replacement filters separately - click here.)
This unit comes standard with the plastic spigot. We do offer a stainless steel tap you can add on (sold separately). Click here.

Care Instructions for Filter Elements:
Over time, you may notice black buildup on your Ultra Sterasyl filter elements, especially if you live in a cloudy water area. You can clean the filter element to help restore its flow. Just remove the element and scrub the surface evenly with a clean abrasive kitchen pad under running water or in a bowl, ensuring that the open ended plastic mount is clear of the water, to avoid contamination.
The ceramic and carbon filter piece is biodegradable; plastic is recyclable (depending on your state's regulations).
